I have developed unique tools to help my clients master the writing process for their chosen genre. For most clients, I begin with a detailed and extensive editorial assessment of their current manuscript. This is a cost-effective way for clients to get detailed feedback on their writing, their manuscript, and how to improve both.

For clients who are more experienced writers and have a more polished manuscript, I begin with a developmental edit.

For clients who need ongoing support with their writing, I offer coaching services customized to their specific needs.

  • My editorial assessments include each of the following:

    A full and thorough readthrough of the manuscript and a written report that includes:

    1) A discussion of the specific strengths of the manuscript;

    2) Notes on overall structure, style, and organization;

    3) A discussion of tone, diction, and pacing;

    4) A discussion of potential markets and audiences;

    5) An assessment of publishability with a major publishing house and explanation for this assessment;

    6) Specific, chapter-level suggestions for revision based on the above items;

    7) A color-coded and symbol-coded step-by-step checklist to guide the client through the revision from beginning to end; and

    8) One free, complimentary coaching session of 60 minutes (or two 30-minute sessions) via Zoom or Skype to assist the client in the revision process.

    Cost: my rate for this service is between USD 0.025 and USD 0.040 per word based on the level of service required.

  • I customize developmental editing packages to the specific needs of each client. They start with all the services outlined under Editorial Assessment plus a combination of the following:

    1) A full line edit of the entire manuscript;

    2) Direct editing of the manuscript in Microsoft Word with tracking of all changes, corrections, and edits;.

    3) Comments and questions provided using the comment function of Microsoft Word;

    4) Corrections and edits for sequencing, gaps, and repetition;

    5) Written or video reports on specific areas of revision, based on client preference;

    6) Email support during the client revision process;

    7) Coaching sessions via Zoom; and

    8) A recheck of the manuscript after client has completed revisions.

    Cost: my rate for this service is between USD 0.006 and USD 0.15 per word based on the level of service required.

  • The coaching services I provide are customized to each client’s unique needs. Because I have taught writing and related skills to people ranging from novices to bestselling authors, I can customize my coaching to meet you exactly where you are in your writing process. We can decide on this together during your initial free consultation.

    I use a monthly retainer system with my coaching clients as this motivates them to work toward their goals and ensures my availability when they need me.

    Cost: Coaching packages range from USD 100 per month to USD 400 per month.
